My Digital Heartbreak

There come times when technology can let us down and cause us more stress and anxiety than we'd like, and in my case, today, I felt that as an aftermath of an unknowing mistake.

A long story short, my chat history in an app wasn't restored when I transferred it to another phone. It hadn't occurred to me prior to me doing what I needed to do to back up chats, perhaps because I thought it was automatic, but I also forgot my Icloud didn't have the capacity (WHICH SUCKS).
This stung a lot because I had some very lovely conversations and memories (photos) with people (new and old) that had just been completely wiped and non-existent. I was distraught for sure. It may not appear a big deal to anyone who hasn't faced their own digital heartbreak, but it was one of those accidental but costly things I did that made my stomach sink. The important convos I would have wanted to keep wasn't there, and it just made me feel disconnected from my self-growth and progress if I put it that way.
The result of this story is that sometimes change is forced upon us even when we can't fathom or accept starting a fresh (again). While I certainly shed a few tears at the shock and daunting reality that there was no recovery, I realised how significant it was for me to embrace the clean slates I now had, which meant I had to loosen my grip on my past. I'm not so sure about you, but 'moving on' is difficult for me and certainly takes an extended time. What I realised today in a subtle way is that 'being too attached to things that have passed will only mean you aren't being present'... isn't that a waste of precious life?
I hope you don't have to go through such digital heartbreak - deleting your files, accidentally not backing up photos or unknowingly doing something you'll regret; I do hope that you remember to embrace change. Save yourself some tears by learning to be present and treasuring the moment you are in because even if you could have a record of it forever, the moment will pass by.
Ps. Any emotional advice to recover from this heartbreak with be appreciated.
Until Next Time...
Ludel
