Project Self

The month of February is upon us! Many of us associate this time with 'love' or 'relationship status' which can leave some of us with many unanswered questions. However, in recent weeks, I've had a shift in my mindset, goals and priorities that focus on the importance of self that I'd like to share with you.

What is project self?

I decided that I want to take action to learn about myself and really embrace who I am/become. While it might be daunting spending some much time 'alone' with a heavy focus on 'me' I feel that it's a journey worth taking and inviting you on.

Getting to a place where I feel whole, love myself and can make confident decisions for my life will be beneficial. I believe that when you work on yourself, other people get to experience the best version of you. This makes relationships thrive and more valuable.

'Project Self' is for those who want to actively embark on their self-development journey. Regardless of your romantic status, age, background etc, it's important to take care of yourself and continue to learn about YOU. Backstory on my mindset change?

Honestly speaking, I've toyed with the idea of dating/relationships in my mind for a bit now. I felt mixed feelings, going back on forth whether I was ready, imagining scenarios and almost waiting in anticipation for 'something'.

I was putting a lot of thought into how I would make a relationship work. It dawned on me that I wasn't prepared or even putting that much effort into developing myself in some areas.

When you care for someone, it's common to neglect or forget to take care of yourself as a human being. I realised that I was willing to be a version of myself that was so focused/dependent on someone else that I needed to reflect on this.

I came to a realisation that at this stage of my life, a relationship currently didn't fit the picture. For this reason, my focus is more aligned with what I really want right now. I want to explore, try new experiences, grow as a person.

What do you truly want in life right now?

My advice: Create memories and continue the process of getting comfortable with making yourself truly happy.
