How to create the perfect working environment and have a minimalist (working) mentality...

I'm guilty of being that person: who has stacks of books on their desk, gets tempted to snack and plays way too familiar music. These are all traits that create divided attention. I'm not a minimalist but I'm learning to adapt the concept into my lifestyle. I find that following the 'less is more' concept increases productivity.
Minimalism is a deliberate lack of decoration, style and design.m I interpret it as 'the simpler the better'. Some of us are privileged to decorate a lot of simple things but sometimes this comes with the cost of becoming a distraction.
Use these 3 prompts to be a minimal yet productive person:
1. Identify when you work best and where.
Knowing where and when you work best is the bare minimum to working effectively.
Not knowing where we work best forces us to adjust to 'uncomfortable' workspaces which can inhibit our productivity. We can end up getting off track trying to get little objects to make it more 'ideal'- costing you precious time. Find a sweet spot where you feel focused e.g. home office, library, cafe etc.
Do important tasks when you feel the most alert. Now, this seems obvious but if you're anything like me you can waste time 'getting ready' or procrastinate sometimes. Try your best to set that period of time to just getting 'priority' work done if you can. E.g. 9 am - 12 pm I do admin work or mandatory tasks.
2. Specify what work you want to focus on.
When we give ourselves generic work, we tend to lose focus and forgetful of what's necessary. Prevent getting overwhelmed by specifying what you want to achieve (break your workload into smaller chunks). This helps keep resources minimal therefore simple to tackle the task with less stress. It can be helpful to have a post-it or short to-do list at hand when you are working.
3. Bare minimum equipment.
We can overcomplicate our work-life when we aren't selective with the equipment/resources we need. This can render a good workspace and time to be productive useless. Try to pack light and make all the things you need portable. This will automatically make you feel better, encouraging you to look forward to going to your workspace. You won't have to worry about carrying lots of things or setting up. It's helpful to ask yourself 'what do I NEED to get this task done?'
